Gaziantep's digital trade potential
Gaziantep is one of Türkiye's largest export bases. Its organised industrial zones (OSB) are concentrated in textiles, machine-made carpets, food and machinery production. Manufacturing capacity and export experience are strong; yet in most businesses the digital sales channel either does not exist at all or sits far behind that production strength. That gap is the city's biggest digital growth opportunity.
Baklava and food brands are among the city's best-known assets. Most still work mainly through local sales, telephone orders and the wholesale channel. Their brand value is more than ready for online selling, both to consumers at home and to the Turkish community abroad and the European market; the only thing missing is properly built e-commerce and advertising infrastructure.
Machine-made carpet and home textile manufacturers export to Europe and the Middle East by the container, yet their digital B2B presence is weak. There are serious gaps in multilingual catalogue sites, Alibaba and Amazon operations, and visibility in 'B2B supplier' searches.
Gaziantep also holds real gastronomy and tourism value; its identity as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy is a separate digital opportunity for restaurants, hotels and regional food brands. Selling regional specialities online and building awareness beyond the city and overseas is an area that can be grown with the right content and advertising.
SMEs and family businesses are dense here. Digitalisation is only now maturing in the city, which gives a brand that moves early and correctly a clear head start.
