Web Design & Development

Fast, mobile-friendly, technically search-ready corporate and e-commerce websites that lead visitors to an enquiry; from design to launch and maintenance.

What it is and who it is for

What is our web design and development service, and who is it for?

Our web design and development service is a project that builds your corporate or e-commerce website, from site structure and design through to development and launch. The aim is a site that loads quickly, works properly on mobile, is technically ready for search engines and leads visitors to an enquiry form, a call or a sale. It suits businesses whose site has become outdated or hard to manage, and those that have no site at all.

Organisations with an outdated site

Firms whose site was built years ago and now looks broken on mobile, loads slowly, is rarely updated or no longer receives security updates.

Sites with visitors but few enquiries

Sites that get traffic but few forms, calls or WhatsApp messages, where the page flow and contact points need rethinking.

Businesses starting from scratch

New brands, new product lines, or exporters that need a multilingual company and catalogue site.

Brands whose site undersells them

Businesses whose product or service quality does not come across online, whose site looks weak next to competitors' and who want a site consistent with their brand identity.

Problems it solves

Which problems does it solve?

  • The site is slow, and visitors leave before the page has loaded.
  • On mobile the buttons are tiny, the menu is broken and the form will not submit.
  • Visitors arrive but no forms, calls or WhatsApp messages follow, or nobody measures the ones that do.
  • The site has not been updated for years; the content is stale and the plugins and platform carry security risks.
  • Even a small change means calling a developer.
Scope and deliverables

What is included, and what do you receive?

  • Site structure and content plan: which page answers which question, plus menus and internal links

  • GA4 tracking for form submissions, phone calls and WhatsApp clicks; Search Console set-up and sitemap submission
  • Mobile and desktop performance measurement (Lighthouse) before launch, plus form and device testing

Process

How does the work progress?

  1. Discovery and scope

We review your goals, audience, current site data and competitors, then agree the page list, features, integrations and who prepares the content in a written scope and schedule.

  2. Structure and design

We set out the site structure and content plan, then present the design as a clickable prototype for your approval. Development starts from the approved design.

  3. Development and content

We build the site mobile-first on the chosen platform, add the content, and set up technical SEO, tracking and redirects from the old URLs.

  4. Testing, launch and handover

After speed, form, device and link checks we launch the site, submit it to Search Console and hand over the measurement results and admin details in writing. Maintenance, if you want it, continues separately.

Cost and timing

What determines the cost and the timeline?

Timeline: A corporate site typically takes four to eight weeks to launch, depending on scope and how ready the content is: a single-language company site sits at the shorter end, a multilingual catalogue site with many pages at the longer end. What most often delays a project is late copy and images, so the scope document states who prepares the content and when. The project runs to a written scope and delivery schedule; post-launch maintenance is separate and optional.

  • The number of pages and languages, and how many different page templates are needed
  • Bespoke design, or adapting an existing design system
  • The chosen platform and how content will be managed
  • Integrations: CRM, email, booking, payments or ERP
  • The state of the content: whether copy, photography and video are ready, and who produces them
  • How much content and how many URLs are moving over from the old site
Measurement

How do we measure success?

We do not promise rankings or a fixed result. We agree the measures below before work starts and report on them in writing.

Speed and page experience
A Lighthouse measurement for mobile and desktop is included in the handover report. Once enough real-visitor data exists after launch, LCP, INP and CLS are tracked in the Search Console Core Web Vitals report against Google's 'good' thresholds (LCP 2.5 s, INP 200 ms, CLS 0.1).
Enquiry conversion
If your current site has tracking, we record a baseline before launch; on the new site, form submissions and phone and WhatsApp clicks are tracked in GA4 with the same definitions, and the two periods are compared in the same way.
Search visibility through the move
Redirect checks on the old URLs, the Search Console page indexing report, and impressions and clicks for key pages before and after launch.
Technical quality
A pre-launch checklist: broken links, form submissions, testing across devices and browsers, and a Lighthouse accessibility audit.

Frequently asked questions

FAQs about Web Design

What drives the price of a website?

The number of pages and languages, whether bespoke design is needed, the platform, how ready the content is and the integrations required, so there is no single list price. In a free initial call we listen to what you need, pin down the scope and send a written quote.

How long does it take to build a website?

Typically four to eight weeks, depending on scope and how ready the content is. A single-language company site sits at the shorter end and a multilingual catalogue site at the longer end; late copy and images are what most often extend the schedule.

What makes a good corporate website?

A corporate site should load quickly, work properly on mobile, be technically ready for search engines and lead visitors clearly to a form, a call or a quote request. That is why we build mobile-first, include technical SEO with structured data and measure performance before launch. Design starts with a prototype and is refined after launch using enquiry data.

How do you choose between Astro, Next.js and WordPress?

It depends on who updates the content and how often, the features you need and the integrations. If your team will update content often and on its own, WordPress's admin panel is practical; Astro suits mainly informational sites where speed comes first; Next.js suits app-like features such as user accounts or live data. We set out the choice and our reasons in writing during discovery.

Will I lose my Google rankings when we move to the new site?

Rankings can fluctuate during a move; careful planning reduces the risk. We map old URLs to new ones with 301 redirects, keep the content of key pages and track indexing and clicks in Search Console in the weeks after launch. We cannot guarantee the outcome, but we share the checks we made and their results in writing.

Who owns the site and the source code?

The source code we write and your data are handed over to you as defined in the contract; third-party and open-source components remain subject to their own licences. We also recommend that the domain and hosting accounts are in your name.

How do timing and payment work?

The project runs to a written scope and delivery schedule, and the payment plan is set out in writing in the proposal. Post-launch maintenance is separate and optional.
