Ankara's digital trade potential
Ankara is no longer only a 'city of civil servants'; it is Türkiye's centre for defence and aerospace, software and advanced technology. Alongside giants such as ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, ROKETSAN and HAVELSAN, thousands of SMEs and sub-industry firms in OSTİM, İvedik and the Başkent organised industrial zone (OSB) feed this ecosystem.
A large part of the city's economy comes from services: corporate companies, public sector suppliers, universities, healthcare and education institutions are dense here. That creates two distinct digital needs in Ankara — B2B and corporate visibility, and local service marketing.
Software and technology ventures are multiplying quickly around METU (ODTÜ) Technopark and İvedik Technopark; for these firms an English-language digital presence, content and LinkedIn are decisive in reaching overseas customers and investors.
Ankara's exports have risen noticeably in recent years, with machinery, defence, electronics and medical products to the fore. Yet a significant proportion of SMEs, particularly in OSTİM, lack a multilingual site, a digital catalogue and 'supplier' visibility — a direct area for growth.
Ankara is also one of Türkiye's largest university and R&D centres; a qualified workforce and the technopark ecosystem open the way for software, medical and advanced technology companies. For these firms, English content, technical SEO and international visibility play a decisive role in attracting both overseas customers and qualified talent.
