Adıyaman's digital trade potential
Textiles sit at the centre of Adıyaman's industrial identity: hundreds of companies concentrated in the organised industrial zone (OSB) produce mainly cotton yarn and woven fabric. The city is an important centre for yarn production in the upstream of Türkiye's textile chain, and output has been coming back on its feet step by step after the 2023 earthquake.
Adıyaman's textile sector is built on a different model from neighbouring Kahramanmaraş: rather than large integrated garment operations, yarn and subcontract production dominate. That leaves it under price-competition pressure, but also very open to gaining value through branding and direct buyer relationships.
The city's face to the world is Mount Nemrut: with the giant statues on its summit, this unique site is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and draws domestic and international visitors every year. With the right multilingual tourism presence online, Nemrut carries far greater visitor and revenue potential.
Agriculture is strong and distinctive: registered products such as Çelikhan tobacco, along with cereals and a range of crops, feed the provincial economy. These products suit branding and e-commerce for higher-value sales.
Adıyaman is also one of the few oil-producing provinces in Türkiye; a significant share of the country's domestic crude output comes from this region. Together with Batman, that gives the city an energy-production identity.
Adıyaman's opportunity is to turn its recovering production and its world heritage tourism into value online: taking yarn and textiles to new markets with an English-language B2B set-up, Nemrut to the world through multilingual tourism content, and tobacco and agriculture into brands. Production and heritage are strong; what is missing is digital visibility and brand.
