Aksaray's digital trade potential
One giant shapes Aksaray's economy: heavy commercial vehicles, that is, truck production. The large truck plant in the city builds roughly seven out of every ten trucks made in Türkiye and has exported billions of euros' worth in recent years; the vehicles it produces go to more than seventy countries.
This large OEM creates a broad automotive supplier and subcontractor ecosystem around it. With hundreds of companies and tens of thousands of employees, the Aksaray organised industrial zone (OSB) is the centre of automotive parts, metalworking and industrial production; major tyre and component investments have also come to the region recently.
This structure gives Aksaray an identity different from other Anatolian industrial provinces: an automotive centre shaped around a single global OEM and focused on heavy commercial vehicles. For the supplier industry that is both a major opportunity and a risk of dependence on one customer.
Alongside automotive, agriculture and food form a strong base: Aksaray is significant in flour, feed and grain production, and farming and livestock are the traditional backbone of the provincial economy. That offers solid ground for food branding and agricultural processing.
Tourism is another opportunity: the Ihlara Valley, Hasandağı and the proximity to Cappadocia draw nature and cultural tourism. That is a separate area of digital opportunity for hotels and tourism businesses.
Aksaray's supplier industry is strong in production but is often tied to one customer and invisible online. A proper B2B shop window and supplier positioning can open these companies both to new OEMs and to industrial buyers abroad, while on the food side brand and e-commerce can create new sources of revenue.
