Bilecik's digital trade potential
Bilecik is one of the strongest centres of the Turkish ceramics industry; Bozüyük in particular is the country's base for floor and wall tile and sanitaryware (bathroom ceramics) production. The feldspar, kaolin and clay deposits in the region drew the ceramics sector into a cluster here; with hundreds of companies and tens of thousands of employees, the sector is the city's flagship.
Bilecik's ceramics are industrial rather than artistic: while Kütahya and Çanakkale are known for handmade tiles and decorative ceramics, Bilecik — and Bozüyük above all — is the base for mass-produced floor and wall tiles and sanitaryware. The production lines of large brands are here, which means a B2B export identity built on scale, technical specification and projects.
Exports are strong: Bozüyük alone accounts for most of the province's exports, and ceramic tile products go from Europe to the United States and to the Middle East. That is potential which a multilingual digital showcase built around collections and technical detail could grow further.
Marble and natural stone are the second strong branch: the white marble around Söğüt is sought after both in domestic projects and in export. Glass packaging and construction chemicals are industrial branches that complete the ceramics ecosystem.
Bilecik's historic identity is strong: as the founding place of the Ottoman state, Söğüt draws visitors each year with commemorative events and cultural tourism. That is an additional digital opportunity for tourism and regional product businesses.
Bilecik's opportunity is to make its industrial production strength visible to international buyers online: taking ceramic tiles and sanitaryware to more countries through a multilingual B2B showcase built on collections and technical detail, marble to project buyers, and Söğüt into tourism digital. The scale of production is high; what is missing is digital visibility and brand.
