Detailed definition
UGC is the reviews, photos and videos customers create about a brand themselves; for prospective customers it can be more convincing social proof than ad copy. Ways to collect it: hashtag campaigns, review platforms (Yotpo, Trustpilot), influencer collaborations and post-purchase emails asking for content. The creator's permission is essential before using it in advertising.
Examples
- A cosmetics brand collecting customer content through a "share your routine" hashtag and using the pieces it has permission for in its ads.
