Detailed definition
llms.txt is a Markdown file proposed at llmstxt.org in 2024 that sets no access rules and simply describes the site; it is neither a permission file like robots.txt nor a binding standard. No search engine or AI provider commits to reading it, and Google states plainly that Google Search ignores these files and that they neither help nor harm visibility. Its benefit is limited: keeping core facts such as the brand name, service areas, office locations and key pages consistent in one place. If it is not kept up to date, it spreads outdated information.
Examples
- paninnovation.com/llms.txt and /llms-en.txt — PAN's short Turkish and English summary files; an optional helper summary that carries no promise of visibility.
